On Friday, April 18th I went to see an OB doctor who diagnosed that I had a Bartholin Gland Cyst. After a few minutes of talking to me, she said that it needed to come out :( I have never had anything medically done to me so I was freaking out. And the best part is where is was located.. jeeze, out of my entire body, it planted itself between my legs :( so yeah, she got me numb, which was not fun. The nurse tried to talk to me and compare it to a dental shot to relate more to me. Well let me tell you, I rather have a root canal. The "little" pinch for just a "second" was a HUGE PINCH that seemed like ONE MINUTE! After she got everything set up, she took off her lab coat and said "this could get messy".. it was funny.. but something I didn't want to hear..LOL. So since Friday, I can't sit down right, I can't bend over to pick up anything, and I walk like a freaking penguin..LOL. Chances are I'll be like this till she takes out this "golf tee" looking that is inside me draining the cyst. And I have to take a bath everyday for 3 WEEKS :( in Epsom salt. And the difficult part is.. I'm always busy and have things I have to do during the weekend.. and this whole procedure has slowed me down. I can only do so much and have to lay down. :( And I'm the type of person and has to always be on the go and get everything finished before I relax. I guess you can say I'm stressed.

Bartholin Gland Cyst

Ahhhhhhhhh I am so sorry - what a pain, well not in the butt but in the woohoo. SO Sorry - Hope you recover soon.
came across your blog while doing a search on this problem and hoped i'd find something encouraging since i'm going to go through this in a few weeks....guess this was NOT the place to look!!! how was it when they took out the catheter??
I too had this problem several years ago, however, my gyn said he couldn't do anything about it until it got big enough and I'd have to wait at least a week. Let me tell you, I was in his office with in another three days and told him I didn't care if he cut my leg off, he was going to fix it. It was so painful, I couldn't sleep at night. I got negligible relief from a few hot bathes and every waking minute it was throbbing. I couldn't walk, sit or even lay down comfortably. The doctor numbed the area when I went back and told him take care of it or else I would, and immediately after he lanced it, I could walk and sit better. The relief was so welcomed, I passed out afterward. Be warned: the fluid that drains is super smelly and really gross but if you were in as much pain as I was you don't care. I'm doing some research because I think its back. This time, I will demand help from my new gyn before it gets to that point.
o.O.o - I had this done yesterday. It was my 3rd in 4 years. I hope I never get another one. Ever. For the next few weeks, I'm taking it easy and sitting in the tub reading a book I really like....and taking loads of motrin.

hey thanx for posting this! i still carry my v-card and have been freaking out about what the heck is going on down stairs. i've been googleing it all weekend. i hope to be able to get in on monday. question if i may... how big is not big enough? like dime size and they wil drain right?
I can relate what Nephsy here has went through...Like me, I just had mine last feb.04,2010...The pain was unbearable, that one afternoon I felt so helpless i went to crying, the pain relievers didn't seem to help at all...!I can hardly reach out things even they're nearby from me,My OB-GYNE doctor recommended to have it operated, but i told her I want it explode by itself as am too terrified of operations, but at nite time before dinner, it did exploded! and smell was toooo foul...! There was blood and pus, and fluid with grey colored sand...!
I ran to the hospital where my Dr.advised me to have the operation, and the following morning it was done.
To my great relief, after about 2 hours of rest from operation, though a little feelin' groogy from the anesthesia, I can't help myself from getting out from my bed to stand, and clap my hands, and dance..! LOL!
I Forgot to mention, mine was MARSUPIALIZATION. the gland was removed to ensure it will not have any recurrence in the future, at least to one side where the bartholin gland was removed.
